FAQs

How do I troubleshoot issues with attachments in emails?

If email attachments are not being sent or cannot be opened, check the following:

1. Check the 28-day attachment retention limit

Attachments on communications are stored on the host server for 28 days only. After this period, they are purged for performance. Re-sending an email after 28 days will not include any attachments (sign-in sheets, registers, certificates, etc.).

2. Check the attachment size limit

There is a 20,480 KB (20 MB) limit on email attachments. If the attachment exceeds this size, the email may fail to send. Check the size of your document templates and reduce them if necessary.

3. Check Workflow configuration

If attachments are sent via a Workflow, verify that:

  • The Workflow Action has a valid Email Template assigned.

  • The document template linked to the Workflow is generating correctly (preview it from the Workflow Action).

  • The Workflow instance status is not "Failed" — check the error message column for details.

4. Check the Email Logs

Go to Administration > Email Logs to confirm whether the email was sent. The Email Logs show the date sent, recipient, subject, and whether attachments were included. If the email appears without attachments, the issue is likely with the document template or the 28-day retention window.

5. Check Document Templates

Ensure the Document Template linked to the email is correctly configured and generating output. Preview the template from Administration > Document Templates to verify.
