About the Rich Text Editor

The Rich Text Editor is a very useful tool for adding and styling text content within your platform! It provides a range of features to customise the look and feel of your text, making it easy to tailor content to your organisation's branding and communication needs.

Where to find the Rich Text Editor

The Rich Text Editor can be found throughout your accessplanit platform!

It is available anywhere where you can input decorative text, for example a Course Template’s Aims, Objectives, and Summary, a Course’s Description, and when adding or editing an Email Template.

Anywhere that has an area that allows text to be added, the editor looks like this:

What features are available in the Rich Text Editor?

The icons along the top of the Rich text editor have the following functions:

Style: Allows you to choose a type of heading from Headings to Quote text
B: Turns selected text bold
I: Turns selected text italic
U: Underlines the selected text
Eraser: Removes selected font style
Font Name: Allows the selection of various font styles
Font Size: Allows the size of the selected font to be increased or decreased
A: Font colour selector
Bullet Point List: Allows a list of bullet points that create a new point each time return is pressed
Number List: Allows a list of numbered items, a new number will be created each time return is pressed
Justification: Used for justifying the text left, centre, right that is currently selected
Table: Allows a table to be inserted into the text editor, any size can be added by clicking the rows and columns needed
Link: Allows a link to be added into the text editor
Picture: Allows an image to be uploaded and inserted into the text editor
File: Allows a direct link to any file located in the File Store on the platform
Full Screen: Allows the current Rich Text Editor box to be full screen
</>: Allows the rich text to be edited in full HTML, this is referred to as code view
Cleaner: This will attempt to clean the formatting of the HTML to remove any messy code
?: this is for inline help that lists a selection of keyboard shortcuts

FAQs

Technically, yes, but we don’t recommend it. Non-standard fonts may reset or revert to defaults when the content is edited in the future. To ensure consistency and compatibility across devices and browsers, it’s best to use web-safe fonts, the fonts available in your rich text editor are universally supported and help maintain the professional appearance of your content.

Differences in font or size often occur when Rich Text content has been edited multiple times, leading to complex or inconsistent HTML in the background. To address this:

Reset both the source Rich Text content and the Email Template to start fresh with clean HTML. This ensures consistent formatting.
Alternatively:
Switch to the HTML (Code) View in the Rich Text Editor and manually update or clean up the code for the affected content.
