About eLearning Courses
eLearning courses offer flexible, self-paced learning that can be accessed via your Learner Portal from anywhere with an internet connection. eLearning Courses can provide interactive and engaging content, in a variety of media formats, and include immediate feedback, making your Course content more accessible and convenient for a diverse range of learners.
Please Note
You must be within the Advanced band or higher to use eLearning as this is a chargeable module/integration. Please speak to your CSM if you are unsure whether you should have access to this feature.
Benefits
Here are the benefits of eLearning Courses:
Course availability | As eLearning is a self-led format, Delegates can learn at their own pace and on their own schedule. This flexibility makes it easier for Delegates to balance their Course with any other commitments, and can support Delegates working from any location, in any time-zone. |
Scalability | As eLearning courses do not depend on a Trainer or a Venue, they do not have a maximum number of Delegates, this means that the course content can be delivered to a large scale of Delegates easily. |
Cost-effective | eLearning Courses are typically more cost-effective for both the Delegates and the Training Provider! Delegates do not need to pay for transport, accommodation, or additional equipment, and the Training Provider does not need to pay for a venue, trainer, or catering. |
Consistent content | As eLearning materials are the same for each Delegate, eLearning ensures that all Delegates receive the same content and experience, delivered in the same way. |
Supporting multiple types of learner | eLearning Courses can be made up of multiple media formats, including text, audio, video, and interactive elements such as quizzes. This means that eLearning can accommodate for different learning styles and needs. |
Key Terms and Glossary
SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) | SCORM is a set of standards for eLearning content that ensures compatibility and interoperability between different LMS platforms. |
eLearning Plan | eLearning Plans are a bundle or package of eLearning courses to guide Delegates through specific knowledge areas, eLearning Plans are very common for induction packages. |
eLearning Package | An eLearning Package is zipped file that contains all the necessary components to deliver a SCORM-compliant eLearning course, eLearning Packages are uploaded into your platform and then assigned to your eLearning Course Templates. |
Blended Learning | Blended Learning is where a Course is run with a hybrid approach, combining eLearning elements with traditional face-to-face classroom Sessions, providing a mix of both methods. |
Training Points | Training Points can determine the minimum pass scores that a Delegate must achieve to pass the eLearning Course. If you are publishing your eLearning courses in SCORM 1.2, you must have a Minimum Pass Score populated to pass across success status and ultimately set your Delegates to Completed. If you are publishing your courses in SCORM 1.2 and cannot see this area of the eLearning template, contact the Customer Support Team. |
Quick Start | Quick Start allows your Delegates to start the Course immediately after purchase |
Auto Complete | Auto Complete will change the Delegate's Status to Completed when the Delegate has completed and passed the package |
Set to 'Completed' if Passed | If the Success Status of the delegate that is sent from the package is Passed, but the Completion Status is either not set or is Incomplete, then ticking this option will automatically set the delegate's Completion Status to Complete. |
Show Success Overview for Delegates | The Success Overview provides Delegates with details about how well they performed on the course. If you allow your Delegates to resit eLearning courses, you can now hide this information from them by unchecking this option when creating the Course Template. |
eLearning Courses & eLearning Packages
eLearning Package
An eLearning Package is zipped file that contains all the necessary components to deliver a SCORM-compliant eLearning course.
The eLearning Package needs to be uploaded to your platform first, then you can create your eLearning Course Template.
eLearning Course Template
eLearning Courses are created slightly differently from Class and Web Courses. eLearning Courses are created by using Course Templates and attaching the uploaded Package to the Course Template
Before uploading an eLearning Package
There are some important things to know before you upload an eLearning package to your platform:
You will need to ensure you have the eLearning Module enabled on your platform to provide eLearning Courses to your users. If it is not enabled, you will need to contact your Customer Success Manager to get it enabled first.
Your eLearning packages need to be SCORM compliant. SCORM is an industry-recognised standard file type for eLearning packages. Your eLearning packages will need to be SCORM files for them to be compatible with your accessplanit platform.
If your eLearning package exceeds 100MB in size then you may need to contact the Support Team to adjust the maximum file size limit
If the total size of your eLearning packages exceeds 5GB, you will need to request additional storage by contacting your Customer Success Manager.
The eLearning package needs to provide us with both a Completion Status and Success Status if you would like the delegates to be marked as completed automatically.
SCORM compliant eLearning Packages
There are multiple versions of SCORM. We support the following options:
SCORM 2004 - recommended option
SCORM 1.2 - has limitations (see below)
At the bare minimum, all packages should pass across the score and completion status of the Delegate. Ideally, they should also include the Delegate's success status (available in SCORM 2004).
Please note, that we always recommend publishing in SCORM 2004.
SCORM 1.2 limitations
If you publish a course in SCORM 1.2, the package cannot automatically pass across success data over to the accessplanit platform, as this version of SCORM does not support success statuses.
You will need to get in touch with the Customer Support Team and ask them to enable Training Points in your eLearning templates to force the platform to set a Delegate's success status. You will then need to input the Minimum Pass Score (as dictated by your package) into the relevant field against the template.
Without this being entered, Delegates enrolled on courses running in SCORM 1.2 will not be able to be marked as Passed in your accessplanit platform, so will not be set to Completed if Set to 'Completed' if Passed is ticked.
You will need to make sure that the score entered into the Minimum Pass Score is kept up to date if any changes are made to the scoring against the package.
