Categorise Courses

Learn how to group your Course Templates into Categories to support your customers searching for the right Course for them, and to support your reporting

When my customers search for Courses, I would like them to be able to search per Category so that they can find the Courses that they need without needing to know the exact name of the Courses.

Follow this page to learn the steps to assign Course Templates to Categories


Optional: Create Course Categories

This step will take you through adding a new Course Category into your platform

  1. Open the ‘Administration’ menu from the Profile options at the top-right of your platform

  2. This will open the Administration menu

  3. Click on Categories from the list of options

  4. This will open the ‘Categories’ DataGrid

  5. Click the ‘Add Category’ button

  6. This will open the Category Maintenance page

  7. From here, add a ‘Label’ for your Category

  8. Then select the ‘Category Type’ of ‘Course Template/Award’
    Communication = used to categorise the communications recorded in your accessplanit platform
    Course Template / Awards = used to categorise the Courses and Awards recorded in your accessplanit platform

  9. Finally, select the colour of your Category using the pre-set selector options or by clicking the tile and using the colour picker
    This colour can be used within your Course Calendar to easily see when Courses in this category are running

  10. Click the ‘Save’ button

  11. Once you have saved your new Category, two additional options will become available for your Category, you can assign Awards or Course Templates

    Ticking the box ‘Keep corresponding awards/Course Templates updated’ will automatically associate any Course Templates/Awards with the Category that are related to the Award or Course Template you have added to the Category.

  12. Using the ‘Add’ Button you can add your Awards and Course Templates

  13. Click the ‘Save’ button once completed

Categorise Courses

This step will take you through assigning Categories to your Course Templates

 

  1. Open the ‘Course Templates’ DataGrid from your main navigation menu on the left

  2. This will open the Course Templates DataGrid

  3. You can search for the Course Template you wish to add a Category to by using the DataGrid search bar or following our dedicated page to create a filter

  4. Once you have located your Course Template, right-click on it and select the ‘Categories’ option from the context menu

  5. This will open the ‘Categories’ form for this Course Template

  6. Click the ‘Add' button

  7. This will open the ‘Category’ DataGrid in a pop up box, select the categories that you would like to assign to your Course Template

  8. Click 'OK'

  9. This will add the selected Categories to your Category form

    Ticking the box ‘Keep corresponding Awards updated’ will automatically associate any Awards with the Category that are related to the Award you have added to the Category.

  10. Click the ‘Save’ button to apply your changes

Top Tip

If you need to assign a Category to a group of Course Templates, you can do this using the Bulk Edit option on your Course Templates DataGrid!
